Personal Goal #1 Part 3

Hi guys,

This time, part 3 will be about the cause and effects of poverty in Myanmar, otherwise known as Burma.
There is a huge gap between the rich and the poor in the country. This is due mainly to the poor financial management, oppression and corruption within the ruling government. It was said that majority of the budget planned was to spend on acquiring military goods and only a small portion of the balance was left for the people of the country.

Those who are poor only earns income which place them below the poverty line. They faced difficulties in access to food, medical, education and other necessities. Families sent their children to work at a young age and even the women had to work to support their family.

The effects of such causes are as follows :
1) Majority of the children are malnourished
2) There is no proper infrastructure to help improve the lives of the people
3) Refugees fled the country to search for a better life in other countries due to government's oppression
4) Many of the people didn't get good education
5) Prices of commodities are highly inflated and they are not easy to obtain due to extremely low monthly salary earned

Other countries are providing humanitarian support directly to the underpriviliged to help alleviate the problem and at the same time, they were pushing the government for a political change towards a better and developed country.

The people of Burma wants a free country. They took the courage to stand for their rights even when they were being oppressed by the military government. It is this kind of courage that I feel all of us should embody within ourselves to help us make it through in our lives.

It is heartaching to see those pictures, showing how their life have been.. While they're walking on their bare foot, we're still complaining how ugly is our shoes.. while they have nothing to fill their hunger, we're still complaining how disgusting the food is.. While they're walking a long distance just to get the source of water, we're complaining how far a 5km is... while they're having tough time to have waters in their life, we're still complaining about not having juices or cokes after our meal..

we never notice how grateful we are as compared to them.. If you really hope that you're able to do something for those poverty country.. I think, there's someone would be able to give you some info about it.. this is her blog add..

http://simplicitacious.wordpress.com/

it might be hard for her to reply you immediately.. as the place that where she is... is kind of hard for her to get connected to the world..

I always wish that I would have the great courage as she is.. leaving everything behind.. and just do what she could to help...

tq for sharing this information william..i agree with this article n ia sgt sedih selepas sy membaca blog u..many people suffering with that poor situation..ekonomi di sana sgt tidak stabil dan membuatkan semua kehidupan menjadi terbatut. The other organization should take an action how to prevent this situation happen. Thanks.

thanks william for sharing this article to us..really sad to see those picture..that shows us how they live at their place with lack of all facilities different in live in our country..they have to survive by themselves to gain food and utilities everyday..all the kids and children didn't get full education like us and they have to work to gain money..they didn't care about their health and lack of medical facilities..hopefully their suffering will be ended someday..

Hi William, your writing showed the devastating impact of wars. We Malaysian should be grateful for what we have enjoyed and the main things is to preserved it. Safety is one of the basic survival and they have been deprived of that. Life should be celebrated with love. Hope you continue on writing not only to educated but also to create the spark of 'action' of doing ..to fix, to heal, to respond ... lots of luv -aida147-

Always glad to see other people taking a look at what is not right in the world. Perhaps we can come up with a mutual project idea or two. I will be making an announcement soon on Poverty News Blog that you may be interested in.

I always tell my kids not to waste any food served to them. Every day is a gift that we are lucky enough not to worry about not having enough food for the family members. We really need to remind ourselves, there are such people in the world whom are struggling to survive with little of food, clean water and shelter.
Thanks william for sharing..will show these photos to my kids..ehehe..

Dear William,

Reading articles about the world issues as how you've addressed it: hunger, poverty, and war always reminds me on how fortunate my life is and with everything I have right now. I've studied world issues before to understand the situation the world is facing, but thanks to you, I'm always reminded on how grateful my life is. Thank you for sharing William. Also, to aid you in your 'Personal Goal,' maybe this video might help you. It is a speech given by Charlie Chaplin. Maybe you've watched it already but here goes:

I wish you all the best and great luck with your ongoing effort. Take care my friend (:

Your post made me realise how unappreciative i am about my conditions. I got good food and clean water and yet im complaining about it. I am so grateful now and hope the people of myanmar will make a stand for themselves.

Thanks for sharing!!! This really makes me rethink how lucky I am to live a life which I do not ever need to worry about basic needs.
May I suggest adding in some words or interviews by the children so that we know how they feel and what they look forward in life.
